An Adventure

So Tuesday night I woke up with a scream and a cough. Daddy came running and got me out of my crib. It was 10pm. This time I didn't ask, they just talked about it.

When daddy got me I was barking like a seal and having a lot of trouble breathing so he got mommy. They took turns with Grandpa watching me while everyone got dressed.

Then we got in the car and went to this big place called a hospital. Mommy said it was because I had croup. Daddy said it was because it might be asthma. I said it was time for an adventure.

They gave me this funny bracelet and said I needed to keep it on. It was fun to take on and off and to throw on the ground.

After awhile, momma said it was about 12:30, we left the waiting room with the fishies and I got to go back to this big room with a big bed that was all for me. Really quickly the room filled with people. One lady asked momma and daddy all kinds of questions like where we lived and where they work. The rest asked them questions about my cough and my trouble breathing and how long it had been going on.

I got to see a breathing specialist btw. I think it's because I'm special.

Everyone kept sticking this weird thing on my chest and back to listen to me breath. It was cold but I stayed really still for it. Everyone was so proud of me.

After a little bit they determined it was croup. So that means momma was right but the doctor said it can be really tricky to tell the difference between croup and asthma so daddy very easily could have been right.

The pretty nurse put this funny thing on my finger that hooked me up to a computer that beeped when I eventually took the thing on my finger off. Daddy said it was for my heart rate.

After awhile they gave me this thing called a steroid. It tasted funny. But they also gave me apple juice to wash it down. It was in this little cup with a straw. I like straws. They make me feel big.

After awhile I got bored. Daddy and momma kept trying to make me lie back in the bed and keep my covers on. I was ready to play. I mean it was 2am! Time to party!

So I threw a temper tantrum.

Daddy said it was roid rage.

Whatever that is.

After a little more waiting the doctor said I could go home. I was breathing lots better by that point and wasn't coughing as much. Besides I was ready to go back to bed.

We got home at 2:30. I didn't ask, momma just told me. Momma let me sleep down in the basement with her. I remember getting a hug and a kiss and then the next thing I knew it was noon the next day.

Then Thursday, momma took me to see Dr Budin. She said he needed to listen to my lungs to make sure everything is clear. I like Dr Budin. Momma says everyone likes Dr Budin. He's a funny guy and tells me I'm neat and special.

Dr Budin gave me a clean bill of health, whatever that means. And then we got to go home. But first I got two stickers! They were trains! Pretty much worth being sick.

So now I'm left with a runny nose and a small cough. But I feel pretty ok.

Not my brother though. Last I heard he had the seal bark and momma was making him sit in the bathroom with the shower running. And now! Now he gets to sleep with momma! In her bed even! I always have to sleep in the pack 'n' play. Lucky.
